Hurricane Irene kills 25 and evacuates more than 370,000 New Yorkers.

The USA is not in a very privileged place, he had to pass through hurricanes, earthquakes and others natural events, though he had huge lost some time, could be worst. And one of the best examples of that is what happens on this Sunday (08/28) the Irene hurricane.

The Irene hurricane began to arrive in the New York City on Sunday morning, with most of the roads flooded and the Times Square abandoned. That happens because all the residents of New York was already informed about the intensity of the Irene Hurricane and did not left their homes. "When you wake up in the morning, please, stay inside,'' a Bloomberg said that, Saturday night (08/27) "Nature is a lot stronger than the rest of us."

 A mandatory evacuation was ordered for over 370,000 residents of New York City that were in dangerous zones. The Bloomberg said that they want that the hurricane be an inconvenience not a fatal experience. It was the first mandatory evacuation in New York's history.

In the end of the story the Irene hurricane made more than 10,000 airplanes be canceled, 90 emergency shelters have been opened in NYC, put 65million in risk around the country, and made at least 25 victims in the United States.

However, one more time the United States shows for the world how organized and preventive they can be saving a lot of lives.

My opinion about the story:

One more time the United States shows a responsible work protecting their citizens  

And organizing a immediately and functional evacuation.

 I think the Irene hurricane was something very scary for all the persons that living here in the United States, the hurricane don`t pass in Georgia, but we could see how destructive he was in the others states.

Just opened the season of hurricane here and we already have a big and dangerous one. That leaves me to think what else we should be preparing for.

Hopefully we started with the worst and all the hurricanes that come now on won’t be worst than a storm.   

 

Washington monument closed indefinitely.

The Washington monument is closed after one of the biggest earthquake of the century in the USA.  The earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 that reached the East coast of the United States made some damages in the city.

The Earthquake happened at the 1:51 pm. on Tuesday (08/23) near the city of Mineral, Virginia.

Besides the pieces of the monument that collapsed, a structural engineer said that the monument probably had thorough damages and it won`t opened again until they fix all the problems.

The Washington monument wasn’t the only one who had problems after the earthquake. The Washington National Cathedral was also closed because of damages, including some cracks and broken pinnacles. However most of the federals buildings and monuments in Washington re-opened after Tuesday afternoon.

The earthquake didn’t bring majors damages, but he scared a lot of people. They had to evacuate a lot of places, and because of the earthquake they had to stop an operation in Virginia at the Nuclear power plant.

The earthquake also put more 12 nuclear facilities on alert; however those alerts were easily cancelled.

They haven’t had an earthquake in Virginia with this magnitude since 1897.

My opinion about the story:

The Story is very interesting for me because is relate to something that is happen in our country, and a lot of people sad that they actually could feel the earthquake here in Georgia, I don`t know how much of this is true but It was something that really call the attention around the country.

It was a very unusually event here in the USA, but we could see that the country is very ready if something like that happens in a major density.

I just hope that nothing like that happens again, but I know it will, so I`m glad that I have confidence in this country to protect me of an event like this.
